PEEPING THROUGH THE CLOWNHOLE

PEEPING THROUGH THE CLOWNHOLE

Photograph of black and white satin clown suit spotted with blood thrown into a dark corner

Multimedia installation that examines the objectification and commodification of bodies, particularly those of women and queer individuals. Through the use of clown imagery, I challenge conventional perceptions of clowns and present them as sexualized objects. The installation incorporates peepholes and glory holes, inviting viewers to engage voyeuristically with the artwork. A live performance and installation video feature the clown character GREENY dancing and narration revealing the traumas caused by objectification. The artwork aims to provoke reflection on complicity in perpetuating objectification and oppression. As well as prompting viewers to question societal systems. Peeping Through The Clownhole offers an opportunity for dialogue on dismantling oppression and supporting those affected by it.
